ESTABLISHED 1985

Allegany Motor & Pump Service, Inc. (AMPS) was founded by Mike Himmler (pictured above) in 1985. Mike's dream was to be a business owner doing what he loved. He had ample experience in the field and started our company in a one car garage in Lavale, MD. As the years went by he upgraded to our current 7,400 square foot facility in Cumberland, MD. He was passionate about his craft and even more passionate about his customers. He not only provided great customer service, but was also adament about contributing back to his community.

For 26 years, Mike lived for AMPS. He dedicated his life for his craft and believed in the phrase, "Work hard, play harder." In 2011, Mike lost his life in a tragic boating accident at the Youghiogheny Lake. With the business looming, Mike's brother Chris, stepped in to run day to day operations in order to keep Mike's dream alive while his wife, Pam, took over the accounting duties. Although we miss Mike every day, we honor his memory by giving 100% to acheiving his dreams for AMPS.
Before AMPS, Chris was a union electrician in the DC area for 25 years living in Winchester, VA with his wife Pam, who worked as an accountant for a general contractor in Purcellville, VA. Together they have two daughters. Chris and Pam enjoy spending time with their family and friends. When they aren't nose deep at work,  you can find them at NHRA races, flea markets and relaxing at home with their dog Mickey.

While at AMPS, Chris and his team have strived for 100% customer satisfaction with the repair, service, and sales of all of our products. We hope to strengthen our relationship with our loyal customers with each repair as well as build new relationships with companies in the tri-state area.
